Shira Bressler is counsel in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Real Estate Practice.

Ms. Bressler advises clients on all aspects of commercial real estate law with a focus on mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions. Ms. Bressler has worked on transactions involving portfolios of properties and single assets from both the purchaser and seller sides. She also has significant experience in real estate finance, including development projects, securitized financing, project finance, corporate banking, and secured high yield transactions. Her finance experience includes representation of lenders and developers in the financing of industrial facilities, hotels, power plants, coal and sand mines, office buildings, shopping centers, and casinos.

Ms. Bressler has represented joint venture partners and real estate private equity funds in the negotiation of complex joint venture agreements for purposes of developing and operating hotels, casinos, and oil and gas pipelines. In addition, Ms. Bressler has represented landlords and tenants, including emerging companies, in commercial lease and sublease negotiations for office and industrial space.

Ms. Bressler is an active participant in the firm’s pro bono program, having worked extensively on the firm’s representation of Holocaust survivors seeking reparations from the German government. Ms. Bressler has also represented nonprofit organizations in their lease negotiations. Most recently, Ms. Bressler has assisted various charter schools leasing new space in the New York metropolitan area and Washington, D.C.

Ms. Bressler’s matters include the representation of:

  • A private equity investor in connection with the acquisition of a liquid and powder coatings company with multinational real estate holdings
  • An investor in the events and media industry in connection with the acquisitions of various live entertainment companies with significant real estate footprints
  • A hospitality company in connection with the construction of a hotel and convention center through a public-private joint venture
  • A private equity investor in the acquisition and financing of an idled oil refinery and storage terminal in the US Virgin Islands
  • An international specialty chemicals company in connection with various acquisitions and related financings
  • A gaming and hospitality company in connection with the refinancing of its casino holdings and the acquisition of strategic real property on the Las Vegas strip
  • A Middle Eastern sovereign wealth fund in connection with the lease for a restaurant managed by a world-renowned chef
