Raffi Teperdjian is an associate in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and is a member of the firm’s Capital Markets Practice, Emerging Companies & Growth Practice, and Corporate Department. 

Raffi advises fintech companies, digital asset platforms, financial institutions, and emerging growth companies on complex corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters involving payments, blockchain technology, digital assets, and emerging technologies.

Drawing on both law firm and in-house experience, Raffi provides practical, business-oriented counsel to clients navigating complex regulatory, commercial, and strategic issues across the fintech and digital asset ecosystem.

He has also periodically served as a professorial lecturer in law at The George Washington University Law School, teaching courses including “AI Law & Policy” and “Cybersecurity Incident Response.”

Raffi’s experience includes advising:

  • A major credit card network on its approximately US$1.8 billion acquisition of a crypto payments platform, including regulatory diligence relating to money transmission, Travel Rule compliance, customer exposure, and digital asset regulatory considerations*
  • A financial institution in connection with analysis of OCC supervisory considerations and NYDFS virtual currency licensing requirements relating to digital asset and payments activities*
  • Fintech and digital asset companies on the launch and commercialization of payments and blockchain-based products, including advising on money transmission, broker-dealer, AML/KYC, and evolving federal and state regulatory frameworks*
  • Financial technology companies in connection with strategic commercial agreements, product counseling, and go-to-market considerations relating to payments infrastructure and digital asset products*
  • Venture-backed technology and Web3 companies in connection with startup financings, token-related matters, and complex commercial transactions involving emerging technologies*
  • A technology outsourcing provider on a US$750 million services transaction with a major US financial institution*
  • Private equity sponsors and institutional clients in connection with commercial and regulatory diligence for acquisitions involving fintech, technology, and digital asset businesses*
  • Clients across a range of industries on technology transactions, intellectual property, and data privacy and cybersecurity matters*

Prior to joining Latham, Raffi gained in-house experience advising on and negotiating a multi-hundred-million-dollar investment portfolio, startup financings, engineering team spinouts, and deals involving the monetization of digital asset holdings.
