Michael Magstadt is an associate in the Chicago office of Latham & Watkins.

Michael advises public and private companies and private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies in:

  • Shareholder activism and takeover defense counseling
  • Corporate governance

Prior to joining Latham full-time, Michael was a summer associate in the firm’s Chicago office.

While attending the University of Michigan Law School, Michael was an online articles editor for the Michigan Journal Of International Law, served as president of the Michigan Law Veterans Society, and spent a semester working with the Michigan Law Veterans Legal Clinic. 

Before attending law school, Michael served in the US Coast Guard. 

Michael is a member of the US Military & Veterans Network and serves on the firm’s global Associates Committee. 

Michael maintains an active pro bono practice, which includes assisting US veterans with discharge upgrades in collaboration with the National Veterans Legal Services Program.
