Matt Hershkowitz is an experienced intellectual property litigator who represents clients in high-stakes, technically complex cases, most of which encompass actions in numerous jurisdictions and causes of actions, especially including patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property disputes.
Matt’s litigation experience spans a broad range of technologies, including:

Matt has extensive experience in all phases of litigation, including pre-suit analysis and strategy, claim construction proceedings, discovery, summary judgment proceedings, and trial. His background as a mechanical engineer for a global chemical company and his broad technical knowledge allow him to communicate effectively with engineers and distill concepts for judges and juries. From the start of any engagement, Matt focuses on understanding a client’s business and goals, and then uses his technical and legal expertise to help his client reach them.
Matt represents clients before the US District Courts, International Trade Commission and Patent Trial and Appeal Board and is admitted to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office
Matt served as a law clerk to Judge K. Michael Moore of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
While in law school, Matt served as the Managing Editor of the Fordham Intellectual Property, Media & Entertainment Law Journal. He also served as a judicial intern for Judge John G. Koeltl of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Matt is a member of the American Bar Association, New York Intellectual Property Law Association, New York City Bar Association, and the Patents Committee of the New York City Bar Association.
Additionally, Matt maintains an active pro bono practice, including advocating for veterans before the Veterans Administration and persons seeking asylum in the United States.
Matt is admitted to practice before US District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
