Markus von der Marwitz is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins.

Mr. von der Marwitz represents companies, lenders, creditors, shareholders, and other parties across various industries in both in-court and out-of-court restructurings, as well as in other distressed situations.

Mr. von der Marwitz maintains an active pro bono practice, representing individuals seeking asylum, and clients in environmental matters, such as assisting clients in generating revenue from creating and selling greenhouse gas credits.

Mr. von der Marwitz attended Columbia Law School, receiving his JD in 2018. While in law school, he served as a staff editor for the Columbia Journal of European Law.

  • Global Eagle Entertainment Inc., a leading global provider of entertainment, connectivity, and data analytics to the airline, cruise, and other industries, in its chapter 11 proceedings and sale process
  • Orion Energy, as prepetition term lender and DIP lender, in the CarbonLite chapter 11 bankruptcy case
  • Imerys Talc America, Inc., a mining company with North American talc operations, in its chapter 11 proceedings seeking to manage talc-related personal injury litigation and pursue a section 524(g)/105(a) channeling injunction
  • Paddock Enterprises LLC, an affiliate of a public company, in its chapter 11 proceeding seeking to resolve legacy asbestos liabilities
  • CTI Foods, LLC and its affiliates, a leading independent provider of custom food solutions to major chain restaurants in North America, in their prepackaged chapter 11 cases*
  • Ditech Holding Corporation, one of the nation’s largest mortgage servicers, and certain of its affiliated debtors in their pre-arranged chapter 11 cases*
