Luke Blackett is a corporate associate in the San Francisco office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice.

Luke represents publicly traded and privately held companies, private equity funds, and venture capital firms in their strategic corporate transactions.

He applies a commercially focused approach to help clients structure and execute transactions across a range of industries, including software and technology, financial services, internet, media and telecommunications, sports and entertainment, video games, life sciences and healthcare, and retail and consumer industries. His experience includes domestic and cross-border: 

  • Public and private mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions
  • Controlling and minority investments
  • Take-privates
  • Carve-outs
  • De-SPAC transactions
  • General corporate representation 

In addition to his M&A practice, Luke maintains an active pro bono practice representing nonprofits and public benefit companies and individuals, including Boys & Girls Clubs in the Bay Area and the rest of California, the Melanoma Research Foundation, Circus Center in San Francisco, and others. Luke previously served on the Board of Directors of the Barristers Club of the Bar Association of San Francisco.

While in law school, Luke served as 2018 Class President to the Berkeley Law LLM class (Student Organization of Advanced Legal Studies) and was an article editor of the Berkeley Business Law Journal, an associate editor of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal, and a member of the Berkeley Journal of Entertainment and Sports Law, as well as the winner of the joint Berkeley Law and Haas Business School Halloum Business Negotiation Competition.

Luke serves on Latham’s global Training and Career Enhancement (TACE) Committee and is a local affinity group leader.

Prior to joining Latham, Luke was an M&A associate at another leading international law firm.
