Laura Whitworth represents global technology clients in complex, high-stakes patent litigation across district courts, the International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
Laura draws on a team-oriented approach to litigation and her technical background to represent clients spanning multiple innovation-driven sectors, including:
- Life sciences technology, including pharmaceuticals and medical devices such as spinal implants
- Telecommunications technology, including chipsets, digital and image processing, and consumer electronic products
- Standard essential patents
- Lithium ion batteries
- Oil refining technology
- Hybrid vehicle technology
With a strong foundation in chemical engineering, Laura manages multidisciplinary case teams and handles all phases of litigation, from pre-suit diligence through resolution in technically sophisticated matters.
She maintains an active pro bono practice, including partnering with the Children’s Law Center on guardian ad litem work for the D.C. Superior Court.
Before joining Latham, Laura practiced at another global law firm. She serves on the Board of the Intellectual Property Section of the Virginia State Bar and previously served as a judicial intern for Judge Jimmie V. Reyna of the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
