Laura Hellwig-Rondeau is an associate in the Boston office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Litigation & Trial Department.

Laura advises clients on a broad range of matters relating to complex commercial disputes, including insurance coverage litigation, contract disputes, and government investigations.

Prior to joining Latham, Laura was a trainee solicitor at another leading law firm in the UK and spent time on secondment at a global investment bank.

Laura maintains an active pro bono practice, including representing a capital defendant in Alabama state court in connection with a resentencing hearing and assisting a client with disabilities to protect his educational rights.

Laura’s experience includes representing:

  • A municipality in a long-running insurance coverage litigation against multiple insurers concerning defense and indemnity obligations for long-tail claims
  • Private equity sponsors and their portfolio company in a Delaware Court of Chancery litigation arising from the sale of a business division, including securing expedited proceedings, obtaining discovery sanctions, and achieving a favorable post-trial settlement
  • An airline in responding to a civil investigative demand in connection with a federal False Claims Act investigation 
  • A technology company in a professional liability insurance coverage dispute relating to an underlying arbitration award, including obtaining dismissal of a declaratory judgment action and facilitating recovery of significant insurance proceeds
  • A leading advertising services company in an adversary proceeding in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas arising from a former joint venture partner’s Chapter 11 case, seeking to enforce key contractual rights and obtaining a favorable new commercial arrangement
  • A former executive in connection with a DOJ investigation into alleged False Claims Act and anti-kickback violations by his former employer
