Lane Ransom is an associate in the Houston office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Project Development & Finance Practice.

Lane represents sponsors, owners, and developers in the development, drafting, and negotiation of engineering, procurement, and construction contracts, supply agreements, operations and maintenance agreements, and other ancillary project contracts in the energy and infrastructure sectors. He advises clients on a wide range of matters relating to such sectors, including power, oil and gas, offshore, liquified natural gas, renewables, and energy transition.

Prior to joining Latham and Watkins, Lane was an associate at another international law firm.

Lane’s experience includes representing and advising:

  • A major electricity producer in the preparation and negotiation of project contracts, including the EPC, the equipment and services supply agreement, and multiple long-term services agreements for a 680 MW battery storage facility in California that represents one of the largest standalone battery storage projects in the world*
  • A major electricity producer in its development of an approximately 105 MW photovoltaic solar energy and battery storage project. The representation included drafting and negotiating an EPC agreement and a long-term services agreement with the EPC contractor, valued at approximately US$144 million, as well as the separate negotiation of battery supply, battery installation, and inverter contracts (and related long-term service agreements) for the battery storage aspects of the project*
  • A solar and energy storage developer in the development of multiple solar generation and battery storage projects, including the development of a full suite of project contract forms encompassing equipment supply, construction, EPC, O&M, long-term service, and equipment reservation contracts and related exhibits*
  • An energy developer with respect to the construction of a 350 MW wind energy project being constructed in Canada*
  • A Japanese oil and gas company in the development of a blue ammonia facility to be located in Texas, including the negotiation and execution of licensing and engineering agreements*
  • A group of 15 commercial bank lenders in connection with an approximately US$13 billion project for the development, construction, operation, maintenance, and ownership of an intercity passenger rail system and related land, equipment, and facilities between Southern California and Las Vegas, Nevada*
  • A large LNG company in the preparation of an EPC agreement, a fabrication agreement, and a project coordination agreement for the development of an LNG facility with a 2.1 million tons-per-annum production capacity in Canada*
  • A conglomeration of lenders for investment in an LNG project, including drafting and structuring of multiple EPC agreements, an equipment supply agreement, a bridging agreement, a transmission line agreement, and an operations and maintenance agreement*
