Lady Africa Sheppard is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Corporate Department.

Ms. Sheppard advises UK and international public and private companies and private equity funds on a broad range of domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, disposals, financings, joint ventures, corporate reorganisations, and general corporate matters.

Prior to joining Latham, Ms. Sheppard trained and practiced in the corporate department of another international law firm in its London and Montréal offices. She also completed an internship at a leading London fintech start-up in the payment services industry, focusing on European and Asian legal and regulatory questions and on worldwide business and partnership development. 

Ms. Sheppard’s experience includes advising:

  • A publicly listed mining group on the sale of its interest in a gold mine in Burkina Faso*

  • A healthcare waste company on the acquisition of a hazardous waste disposal company*
  • The Starlite Aviation Group’s founders on the sale of the group to Financière SAF*
  • An African food brand operator on the sale of its interest in a leading Nigerian baked goods company to a global food and beverage company*
  • Barrick Gold on the sale of Acacia Exploration Kenya to Shanta Gold*
  • Makivik Corporation on the combination of First Air and Canadian North airlines*
  • CDPQ Infra Inc. on the Réseau électrique métropolitain de Montréal project*
