Komal Shemar is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Data & Technology Transactions Practice.

Komal represents and advises clients across a range of sectors, including private equity, technology, fintech, and social media, in connection with:

  • Data privacy
  • Technology regulation, including regulation of artificial intelligence, online platforms, and data sharing
  • Commercial contracts
  • Intellectual property licensing 
  • Diligence of private equity and venture capital transactions, and public listings

Komal trained in the firm’s London office, also gaining experience in fintech (particularly crypto-assets), private equity transactions, and leveraged finance. Prior to joining Latham, Komal spent time in private practice and in-house at a SaaS technology company in Paris.

Komal’s experience includes advising: 

  • Numerous private equity clients on data privacy, commercial contracts, and intellectual property diligence in relation to their acquisitions and investments 
  • Numerous companies on their GDPR compliance programs and compliance with technology regulations and consumer protection requirements 
  • Fidelity National Information Services on data privacy diligence for its acquisition of the Issuer Solutions business of Global Payments, a payments technology company 
  • Silver Lake on commercial contracts and intellectual property diligence for its investment in Vantage Data Centers
  • Apollo Global Management on data privacy diligence for its acquisition of data center assets in Europe from STACK Infrastructure, a hyperscale-focused infrastructure solutions platform
