Kathy Bruce

Kathy Bruce is a litigation associate in Latham’s San Diego office and a member of the Securities and M&A Litigation Practice.

Kathy represents companies and their officers and directors in high-stakes disputes, such as securities class actions, shareholder derivative lawsuits, books-and-records demands, and other complex litigation. Kathy advises clients from a range of industries in all aspects of litigation, including strategy, fact development, and motions practice. 

Kathy maintains an active pro bono practice. She recently represented an incarcerated individual in a civil rights appeal before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Before joining Latham, Kathy served as a law clerk to Judge Richard R. Clifton of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald of the Hawai‘i Supreme Court. She also worked a litigation associate in a full-service law firm in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, where she focused on complex commercial litigation.  

Prior to law school, Kathy was an elementary school teacher through Teach for America.
