Josh Strathman advises clients on sophisticated asset-backed financing and securitizations.

Josh guides lenders, borrowers, asset originators and servicers, asset-backed commercial paper (ABCP) conduits, issuers, underwriters, and placement agents through public and private securities offerings and other financing transactions. He brings a commercial approach to complex matters across a range of asset classes, including:

  • Auto loans and leases
  • Equipment loans and leases
  • Credit card receivables
  • Commercial loans
  • Pharmaceutical royalties
  • Unsecured consumer loans

Josh also represents clients in loan portfolio acquisitions and commercial real estate repurchase agreements.

A natural relationship-builder and responsive strategic advisor, Josh anticipates client needs to help both lenders and investors navigate fluid, high-pressure situations .

Prior to joining Latham, Josh was counsel at another international law firm. Before that, he was senior corporate counsel at NeoPets, an online media subsidiary of Viacom.

Josh’s representative experience includes advising: 

  • Eagle Pharmaceuticals on its US$69 million royalty monetization transaction with Blue Owl Capital
  • Guggenheim Investments  on multiple financing transactions, including a revolving credit facility and a US$400 million private debt vehicle backed by Allianz Global Investors
  • CIFC Asset Management in connection with a collateralized loan obligation (CLO) transaction 
  • Trinity Capital on term loan facilities for PatientFi
  • LEO Pharma on selling its preclinical oral STAT6 small molecule inhibitors to Gilead Sciences
  • Invitation Homes on securitization financing secured by a collateral pool of 2,600 homes
