Josh Ji represents a broad range of clients in high-stakes disputes — primarily matters involving breach of contract, business torts, trade secrets, intellectual property, false advertising / CLRA claims, and unfair competition. He has successfully litigated numerous nine- and ten-figure actions as well as multi-district litigations, class actions, and cross-border disputes. Drawing on his extensive litigation and trial experience, Josh routinely advises clients on creative dispute resolution strategies and helps navigate crisis situations. He also leverages his IP litigation background to counsel clients on complex trademark development and enforcement issues for some of the most recognizable brands in the world.
Prior to joining Latham, Josh was an associate at another leading international law firm and served as a judicial extern to Judge Josephine L. Staton (US District Judge, CD Cal). Josh was a Dean’s Merit Scholar and graduated with honors from the UC Irvine School of Law, where he was co-editor-in-chief of the Law Review, a teaching assistant for the Lawyering Skills program, and a research assistant to Vice Dean Christopher Whytock. Josh received the Faculty Award for obtaining the highest grade in the Civil Procedure course, and his Law Review student note has been cited by American Jurisprudence and the US District Court for the SDNY.
At Latham, Josh has served on firm leadership committees at both global and local levels, and he is committed to maintaining an active pro bono practice. In the Southern California legal community, Josh is deeply engaged, having served as a leader of the Orange County Bar Association (Board of Directors), OC Federal Bar Association (YLD Planning Committee Member), OC Korean American Bar Association (President), UC Irvine School of Law Alumni Association (Governing Council), and the International Association of Korean Lawyers (SoCal Regional Governor). He also served the County of Orange as an Ethics Commissioner.
