Jonathan Coote is an associate in Latham’s Copyright, Privacy & Communications Practice. He advises on a range of complex matters with a focus on copyright, technology regulation, music, and digital media.
Jonathan combines specialist copyright knowledge, with experience representing clients in the music industry, to areas including:
- UK and EU copyright law
- AI policy and regulation
- Audiovisual Media Services Directive and audiovisual regulations
- Technology and media regulation
- Music and entertainment licensing
- Content-based transactions and acquisitions
Before joining Latham, Jonathan initially studied music and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in musicology. Jonathan then trained at a leading UK firm, qualifying into and working within its intellectual property team. He has also spent time working at a top-tier London music boutique, where he represented many iconic global artists, with a particular focus on innovative digital rights exploitation.
