John Detrich is an associate in the Orange County office of Latham & Watkins and is a member of the firm’s Environment, Land & Resources Practice.
John helps clients obtain and defend land use and environmental approvals for complex projects across industries and asset types, including energy, infrastructure, residential, and commercial development. He also has experience representing developers and lenders in transactions involving land use, permitting, and environmental matters.
John has experience with a wide range of land use and environmental laws and regulations, including the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the California Coastal Act, and local planning and zoning laws.
Prior to joining the firm, John managed site-acquisition and entitlement efforts for wireless telecommunications carriers and communications infrastructure REITs.
During law school at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, John served as president of USC Gould’s Real Estate Law Society, as a Board Member of the Energy & Environmental Law Society, and as a legal extern for the County of Orange, Office of the County Counsel.
