Jasmine Benjamin advises clients on anti-discrimination and civil rights-related investigations, litigation, and compliance.

Jasmine represents companies, universities, healthcare providers, and nonprofits on a range of high stakes matters involving:

  • Compliance with Section 1981, Title VI, Title VII, and other state and federal anti-discrimination and civil rights laws
  • Internal investigations and workplace culture reviews
  • Risk mitigation and best practices for developing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives

She leverages a pragmatic approach and attention to detail to guide clients through a rapidly evolving regulatory environment. 

Before joining Latham, Jasmine served as admissions outreach co-chair for the University of Michigan’s Black Law Students Association and advocated for trafficking victims as a student attorney for the Human Trafficking Clinic. 

Jasmine’s experience includes representing:

  • A large nonprofit healthcare system in a comprehensive, system-wide review of internal DEI practices and patient-facing health equity programs, including community health initiatives
  • Several private universities in US Department of Education Office for Civil Rights investigations related to their compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act
  • A technology company in a challenge brought under federal and state civil rights laws based on its participation in a diversity program
  • A private university in an internal investigation regarding the university’s response to a complaint of sexual misconduct
  • A prominent foundation in assessing equity-related grantmaking programs and community-based initiatives
