Jared Johnson advises clients in the electric power and energy transition industries, with a focus on regulation, wholesale power markets, and low-carbon energy projects.
Jared represents independent power producers, utilities, and financial institutions before federal and state regulatory commissions and agencies in matters involving:
- Rate applications, qualifying facility certifications, regulatory advocacy, and compliance proceedings under the Federal Power Act, the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act, and the Public Utility Holding Company Act
- Market rule developments in the stakeholder processes of regional transmission organizations and independent system operators
- Grid interconnection matters for generators and new loads
- Buying and selling energy attributes, including renewable energy certificates, and trading greenhouse gas allowances and offset credits
Jared draws experience in both private practice and in-house to adeptly handle matters involving the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the US Department of Energy, and the California Public Utilities Commission.
Before joining Latham, Jared was counsel at another global law firm. Prior to that, he was in-house counsel at a multinational integrated energy company.
