Jacqueline Van is an associate in the Hong Kong office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Data & Technology Transactions Practice.

Jacqueline focuses on a variety of corporate matters, including cross-border commercial, technology, media, and data privacy matters.

Jacqueline has expertise advising clients from various sectors, with a focus on the technology, gaming, internet, cloud, logistics, and entertainment industries. Her experience is supplemented by a secondment at a major global technology company during her time with the firm, where she drove compliance strategy for emerging US data security regulations across multiple business lines, and provided product counselling for cloud products and operations.

Jacqueline’s representative experience includes advising:

  • A global technology company on its global data privacy compliance for its product launches, including gaming products, cloud services, and social media communications, with a focus on data privacy compliance relating to the GDPR as well as across Asia
  • A global technology and internet group on the development of its new cloud conference tool, including obtaining telecommunications licenses in multiple jurisdictions and conducting a global privacy review to determine the privacy and regulatory risks of the product launch in over 180 countries
  • A variety of private equity clients on commercial, data privacy, and intellectual property issues arising in the context of private equity and M&A transactions 
  • A US-based leading provider of cloud-managed 4G and 5G LTE solutions on consideration of regulatory (licensing and product permit) and data privacy issues that may be triggered in its expansion into a number of Asian, ME, and South American markets
