Jake Vannette is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins.
Jake represents clients in intellectual-property litigation in federal district and appellate courts, before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and in the International Trade Commission. His experience covers an array of technologies, including control systems, electrical devices, communication systems, and materials science.
Jake has participated in all phases of litigation, including pre-suit investigations, fact and expert discovery, preliminary and permanent injunction requests, witness preparation, discovery and dispositive motion practice, claim construction, trial preparation, trial and post-trial practice, and appellate practice. As a former law clerk, Jake is skilled at presenting his clients’ arguments clearly, concisely, and persuasively both in the courtroom and in writing.
Jake maintains an active pro bono practice. He has represented clients at the PTO, veterans before the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, asylum applicants in immigration court, and supporting a guardian ad litum.
Before joining Latham, Jake was an associate at a major international law firm, where he litigated all forms of intellectual-property disputes, engaged in patent prosecution, and performed due-diligence activities. Jake also previously served as a law clerk to Judge Sharon Prost of the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and for Judge Robert W. Schroeder III of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
