Jörg P. Soehring

Retired Partner

Dr. Jörg Soehring retired from the partnership in June 2008. He was previously the Managing Partner of the Latham & Watkins office in Hamburg and had practiced in the Litigation Department, focusing on press and media law, mergers and acquisitions, unfair competition and distribution and licensing, in particular in the hotel industry.

Dr. Soehring represented major and medium-sized German and international clients in primarily German transactions and commercial matters. He also handled litigation in the areas of media, unfair competition and corporate law.

A member of the International Bar Association, German-American Lawyers' Association and German Association on the Protection of Intellectual Property, Dr. Soehring published a textbook on German press and media law in addition to writing articles on press, media and competition law issues. Dr. Soehring was also a member of the German Jurists' Association and German Lawyers' Association.

Dr. Soehring came to Latham & Watkins from the German law firm Gaedertz, where he was partner since 1990. Prior to joining Gaedertz, Dr. Soehring was a partner at Müller-Horn & Soehring between 1974 and 1989. He began his career as a partner with Labin & Partner in Hamburg after passing the bar exam in 1971. Dr. Soehring is fluent in both German and English. He was named as one of "The Hot 100" for the year 2000 by The Lawyer in January 2001.
