I-Ming Tan is an associate in the Hong Kong office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Corporate Department.

Ms. Tan focuses on a wide range of matters acting for private equity firms, corporates, investment companies, and others in various M&A/private equity transactions across different sectors and jurisdictions with an Asia-Pacific focus. Types of transactions worked on include minority stake, majority stake and joint venture investments and divestments, public listed and private transactions, buyouts, co-investments, and corporate advisory work.

Ms. Tan's experience includes advising:

  • Hop Lun, a Hong Kong-based designer and manufacturer of undergarments and swimwear and a portfolio company of Platinum Equity, on the acquisition of RW Designs, a Los Angeles-based private label design house and manufacturer specializing in swimwear
  • HARPS Global Pte. Ltd., a Southeast Asian medical glove producer, on the acquisition of Semperit AG Holding’s medical business, Sempermed
  • Warburg Pincus on its establishment of Oona Insurance (Oona), a digital general insurance platform in Southeast Asia, and on Oona’s initial acquisitions of two general insurance assets in the region
  • Platinum Equity on the acquisition of the Hong Kong-headquartered Hop Lun Limited, a manufacturer of women’s lingerie, sports apparel, and swimwear products
  • The Founder and managing shareholders on the sale of Faria Education Group Limited, a global software provider focused on the international education market
  • An investor consortium on their sale of a controlling stake in leading Cambodian microfinance business PRASAC Microfinance Institution Limited to Korean Kookmin Bank*
  • CVC Capital Partners (CVC) on various matters, including on a HK$2 billion investment in road toll operator RKE; and a CVC-led consortium's acquisition of 50% of Ngern Tid Lor Company Limited from Bank of Ayudhya a leading bank in Thailand*
  • CVC and Brooklyn Investment Limited (an offer vehicle jointly controlled by CVC and the founders of I.T) on the privatization of the Hong Kong listed fashion retailer I.T Limited*
  • Permira on the buyout of Topcast Aviation, the largest independent aircraft parts distributor in the Asia Pacific region*
  • Carrefour on the disposal of its 80% equity interest in Carrefour China to Chinese retailer Suning.com, which valued Carrefour China at US$1.58 billion*
  • Carrefour in respect of its proposed acquisition of Wellcome Taiwan, the operator of Wellcome and Jasons supermarket stores in Taiwan*
  • Partners Group on a joint venture in respect of a telecoms tower infrastructure platform business in Philippines*
