Hendrik de Jong

Retired Partner

Hendrik de Jong retired from the partnership in November 2008. He was a partner in Latham & Watkins' New York office. He represented lenders and borrowers in numerous secured, unsecured and credit-enhanced financing transactions, including representation of Citigroup, Credit Suisse First Boston, JPMorgan Chase Bank, Bear, Stearns & Co., Goldman Sachs & Co., Lehman Brothers and General Electric Capital Corporation in financing transactions arranged by them. He was recognized as a leading lawyer in the 2008 IFLR1000 guide.

Prior to joining Latham, Mr. de Jong was a partner with Faegre & Benson in Minnesota and Sidley & Austin in California. He is originally from the Netherlands and attended the University of Chicago for both his undergraduate and law degrees. There, he graduated with honors and special honors in Philosophy, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. In 1969 he received his JD with honors, Order of the Coif. Mr. de Jong also served on the Board of Editors of the University of Chicago Law Review.

At the time of his retirement, Mr. de Jong was a member of the Global Opinions and Confirmations Committee.
