Emily Kaplan is an associate in the Chicago office of Latham & Watkins and is a member of the Litigation & Trial Department. 

Emily advises companies and individuals in securities litigation, commercial litigation, and government investigations. 

Before joining Latham, Emily was a litigation associate at another international law firm. She clerked on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals for the Honorable Amy J. St. Eve, and on the Northern District of Illinois for the Honorable Sara L. Ellis.

Emily’s experience includes:

  • Obtaining dismissals of securities class actions in federal court*
  • Obtaining dismissals of shareholder derivative lawsuits in federal and state court, including the New York Court of Appeals*
  • Representing and advising clients in the blockchain and digital asset technology industry in litigation and government investigations*
  • Representing and advising numerous clients pro bono, including asylum seekers and election workers*
