Elizabeth Bernal Cate is an associate in the San Francisco office of Latham & Watkins.

Ms. Bernal Cate represents public and private companies on a variety of litigation and corporate matters.

Ms. Bernal Cate earned her JD from the University of California, College of the Law (formerly UC Hastings), graduating magna cum laude and Order of the Coif in the top 5% of her class. While there, Ms. Bernal Cate served as a member of the Executive Board of the Hastings Law Journal, the Internal Vice President of the Women’s Law Society, and a member of the moot court team. 

In law school, Ms. Bernal Cate externed for Justice Goodwin Liu of the California Supreme Court, worked as a research and teaching assistant, and was a law clerk in the Social Enterprise and Economic Empowerment Clinic. Before law school, she worked for the US Senate Judiciary Committee in the Office of Former Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein. While there, Ms. Bernal Cate worked on a variety of matters including immigration, oversight and investigations, antitrust, and intellectual property.
