Di Ai is an associate in the San Francisco office of Latham & Watkins. He represents clients in complex intellectual property disputes, including patent and trade secret matters.

Di has experience handling intellectual property matters before federal district courts, the International Trade Commission, and the US Patent and Trademark Office. His experience includes handling various aspects of fact and expert discovery, drafting dispositive motions and briefs, and preparing witnesses for depositions

While in law school, Di served as a communications and speakers editor for the Harvard Journal of Law and Technology and an executive editor on the Harvard Business Law Review. Di has previously worked at Google, Amazon, McKinsey & Company, Epic Systems, and Cornerstone Research.

Di’s experience includes:

  • Representing GlobalFoundries and navigating claim construction, fact discovery, and expert discovery, securing key victories along the way that led to the court ruling that the asserted claims were ineligible under Section 101 just 30 days before the case was set to go to trial (Oasis Tooling, Inc. v. GlobalFoundries U.S., Inc. (D. Del.))
  • Defending Uniswap Foundation in patent litigation relating to cryptocurrency transactions, securing dismissal of all claims under 35 U.S.C. § 101 
  • Representing a plaintiff in a software trade secret misappropriation case, resulting in a favorable stipulated consent judgment
  • Representing a plaintiff in a patent case regarding networking software (Certain Wi-Fi Routers, Wi-Fi Devices, Mesh Wi-Fi Network Devices and Components Thereof (ITC))
  • Defending Shoei Chemical in patent litigation relating to quantum dots, resulting in a favorable settlement
  • Defending Kia America in a patent case relating to firmware-based error recovery for lockstep processors
