Cody Kermanian is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Environment, Land & Resources Practice. He focuses on environmental regulatory compliance, infrastructure siting, complex transactions, and project development.

Cody advises a variety of clients, including developers, landowners, corporate clients, foreign governments, and utilities, in matters before local, state, and federal agencies, such as the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the California Public Utilities Commission, and the California Department of Toxic Substances Control. He counsels clients on several types of projects and transactions, including data centers, water treatment facilities, mixed-use developments, solar energy projects, wind power fields, desalination plants, hospitals, and energy storage facilities.

In 2025, Cody was seconded to Amazon Web Services where he advised the company on various environmental law matters involving data center acquisition, development, and operation.

In addition, Cody maintains an active pro bono practice working with immigrants, asylum seekers, and nonprofit organizations. In 2022, he was awarded a Pro Bono Star by Human Rights First for his leadership on a complex asylum proceeding. 

Prior to joining Latham, Cody graduated cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center. As a law school student, he served as an extern on the majority staff of the US House of Representatives’ Energy and Commerce Committee, where he advised on federal water quality standards, player safety in American professional sports leagues, and foreign interference in the Olympic Games, among other matters.
