Clayton Wiggins is a trial lawyer representing clients in complex antitrust disputes.

Leveraging his trial experience, Clayton has successfully defended some of the premier sports leagues in the United States in both arbitration and multi-billion-dollar antitrust lawsuits. He has litigated antitrust matters in all phases, from responding to complaints, conducting discovery and opposing class certification, to drafting dispositive motions, and trying a case to verdict before a jury.

Prior to joining Latham, Clayton was an associate at one of the country’s premier boutique litigation firms. In 2021, he was named the Department of the Navy’s Military Justice Officer of the Year and he continues to serve in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.

  • National Football League (NFL). Clayton was a member of the trial team that secured a victory for the NFL and its 32 member clubs in a US$21 billion challenge to the League’s broadcast arrangements for its Sunday Ticket Package. The national antitrust MDL lawsuit was tried before a jury in the Central District of California*
  • National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). Clayton represented the NCAA in multiple putative class action lawsuits challenging the NCAA’s rules regarding student-athletes’ compensation, including use of their names, images, and likenesses (NIL) and other related matters*
  • A major sports league in a confidential arbitration*

Military

  • As a military prosecutor, Clayton litigated multiple criminal matters before juries and argued before appellate courts on behalf of the government*
