Kong Chuan Wei is a finance associate in the Singapore office of Latham & Watkins. Mr. Kong advises lenders, special situation funds, credit funds, and major corporate borrowers and issuers in a wide array of domestic and cross-border financings including bilateral, club and syndicated loans, margin loans, acquisition finance, project finance, and capital markets transactions.

Mr. Kong also serves as a member of the Asia Pacific Loan Market Association (APLMA) Singapore Young Leaders Committee.

Mr. Kong’s experience includes advising:
  • A consortium comprising TPG Capital, Sumitomo Life Insurance Company, and others on a senior facility and a bridge-to-bond financing to finance a transaction to combine SingLife with global insurance company Aviva plc’s Singapore life insurance business, Aviva Ltd
  • Vingroup of a stake in Vinhomes Joint stock company, a Vietnam-based real estate developer, to a consortium led by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.
  • MCO Nominee One Limited, a subsidiary of Melco Resorts & Entertainments Limited, an operator of integrated resorts with entertainment and casino gaming facilities, on a HK$14.8 billion revolving credit facility
  • Warburg Pincus on the financing for its acquisition of a portfolio of real estate assets in Singapore
  • Asian Development Bank, JBIC, NEXI, and a consortium of commercial bank lenders in the US$701 million project financing of the 98.4-MW Rantau Dedap Geothermal Power Project in South Sumatra, Indonesia
  • PT Pertamina EP Cepu on the US$1.8 billion financing for the development of the Jambaran Tiung Biru oil and gas field
  • The underwriters in connection with the issuance by Star Energy Geothermal of US$580 million 6.75% Senior Secured Notes due 2033, awarded Best Green Bond (Indonesia) by The Asset Asian Awards 2018
  • PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk on a US$1.3 billion term loan facility in connection with the acquisition of PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk, an Indonesian-based producer and distributor of cement, ready-mixed concrete, and aggregates
  • San Miguel Corporation on a US$2.1 billion term loan facility in connection with the acquisition of Holcim Philippines Inc., a Philippines-based cement manufacturer
