Carlos Ibarguengoitia is an associate in the Finance Department and the Latin America Practice and serves as a global leader in the Hispanic/Latino American (HLA) Lawyers Group.

Mr. Ibarguenoitia has experience with a wide range of finance and securities matters including leveraged and corporate bank financings. During the course of such matters, he has represented numerous investment banks, commercial banks, and direct lenders, as well as a number of financial sponsors and corporate borrowers in domestic and cross-border transactions.

With more than ten years of combined experience, Mr. Ibarguenoitia also regularly advises on pro bono matters involving Latin America.

Prior to joining Latham, Mr. Ibarguenoitia worked in the Mexico City office of a major Mexican law firm.

Mr. Ibarguengoitia’s experience includes representing:

  • Lead arrangers in connection with Panther BF Aggregator 2 LP’s US$10 billion senior secured bank facilities, senior secured asset based facilities, and senior secured and senior unsecured notes offerings in support of Brookfield Business Partners L.P. and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec’s US$13.2 billion acquisition of the Power Solutions business of Johnson Controls, a world-leading manufacturer and distributor of advanced automotive battery technologies
  • IFM Infrastructure Fund in connection with several investments in infrastructure projects throughout Latin America and Spain, including its acquisition of OHL Concesiones, which included infrastructure assets in Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Spain and its joint tender offer for OHL Mexico
  • Indigo Partners in its acquisition of a significant interest in Volaris of Mexico and its investment in Jet Smart in Chile
  • Saturn Shareholder representative in connection with Albertson’s sale of a significant minority interest in Casa Ley in Mexico
  • Procaps, a leading Latin American pharmaceutical manufacturing company based in Colombia with operations throughout Latin America, in connection with a minority investment from the IFC
  • Repsol in connection with its joint venture and US$1.2 billion financing arrangements with PDVSA in Venezuela
  • Sutherland Global Services in a US$390 million secured financing granted by Bank of America*
  • FIBRA Prologis, in a MXP$8 billion global initial public offering*
  • ICICI Bank Limited in a US$76 million secured financing granted to SAE Towers*
  • Goldman Sachs Bank USA in a US$305 million high yield offering and secured loan granted to Signature Group Holdings, Inc.*
  • Credit Suisse and a group of Brazilian bondholders in the restructuring of Desarrolladora Homex, S.A.B. de C.V., and its subsidiaries*
