Rebecca (Becky) Landau advises clients on complex real estate financing matters.

Becky guides private equity funds, real estate investment trusts, institutional lenders, and private capital providers through a range of commercial real estate transactions involving:

  • Bridge-type mortgage loans
  • Construction loans
  • Preferred equity investments
  • Mezzanine loans
  • Back leverage financing
  • Workouts and restructurings of distressed assets

She also regularly advises clients on exercising remedies and asset management matters.

Before joining Latham, Becky was a partner in the real estate practice of another international law firm.

Becky’s experience includes advising:

  • A publicly traded REIT on purchasing a five-loan portfolio valued at approximately US$500 million*
  • A private equity fund on restructuring an aggregate US$160 million mortgage and mezzanine loan*
  • A private fund vehicle on originating a US$180 million mortgage loan portfolio secured by three properties*
  • A publicly traded REIT acquiring title to a property secured by US$153 million of mortgage debt*
  • A private investment fund on originating a US$112 million construction loan on a mixed-use development in Miami, FL*
  • A private investment fund on originating a US$174 million mortgage loan secured by a residential building in Los Angeles, CA*
  • A private equity fund on acquiring title to a property in Washington, D.C. from a defaulted mezzanine loan borrower and restructuring a related US$135 million mortgage loan*
