She combines a sophisticated understanding of emerging legal issues in the healthcare and life sciences, digital health, AI, and privacy/cybersecurity space. Barbara has extensive experience helping clients navigate issues related to global healthcare and privacy law, including:

- Coverage and reimbursement

- Precision medicine/Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)
- Licensing and other provider/payor regulations
- False Claims Act defense
- M&A/capital markets transactional matters
- HIPAA, the CCPA, and other state consumer privacy laws in the US
- GDPR and the AI Act in the EU and recent privacy legislation in Africa and Asia
Prior to joining Latham, Barbara spent eight years as in-house counsel, subject matter expert, and CLIA laboratory privacy officer at a large global medical device manufacturer. She also practiced as a healthcare, privacy, and corporate attorney at large international law firms, and spent three years as legislative counsel for Workplace Flexibility 2010, a Sloan Foundation-funded project at Georgetown University Law Center. She is an active volunteer and serves on three non-profit Boards in the Washington, D.C. area.
