Anna James is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Litigation & Trial Department.

Ms. James has a broad practice within complex commercial litigation, focusing particularly on multijurisdictional commercial litigation, banking, and civil fraud.

Ms. James is a Solicitor Advocate in the Higher Courts of England and Wales and has represented a broad range of clients, including international corporates, financial institutions, public bodies, and charities.

In 2013, Ms. James was awarded the Wig & Pen Prize by the City of London Law Society in recognition of her commitment to pro bono work.

  • Samba Financial Group in relation to an approximately US$450 million claim brought in the English High Court by liquidators of a Cayman Islands company arising from the Al-Sanea/Al-Gosaibi dispute
  • A major international bank in relation to a major fraud alleged to have been committed against one of its group companies
  • An investment fund in relation to claims of civil fraud, involving complex accounting issues
  • Bondholders in relation to litigation concerning financial instruments

Commercial Corporate Litigation

  • A major airline in civil claims in the English High Court for damages arising out of the Commission’s infringement decision imposing €799 million on air cargo carriers for a global price fixing cartel on fuel surcharges
  • A global entertainment company and integrated merchant bank in relation to a claim concerning former employees and alleged proprietary information
  • An oil company consortia in a dispute over rights arising from production sharing agreements in West Africa*
  • An oil company consortia following allegations of bribery and corruption by a whistleblower*
