Prof. Dr. Andreas Weitbrecht retired from Partnership on December 31, 2012. Mr. Weitbrecht was widely regarded as a pre-eminent member of the German and EU competition bars. As former Office Managing Partner in Brussels as well as former Co-chair of the firm's global Antitrust and Competition Practice, Prof. Weitbrecht divided his time between the firm's Brussels and Frankfurt offices. His practice focused on EU and German competition law. He advised multinational companies on all issues of competition law. In addition, he has represented clients in numerous competition matters before the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel office as well as before the European and German courts, where his practice included both litigation in public enforcement cases as well as private damages litigation. He is also experienced in arbitrations, e.g., under the auspices of the ICC, both as counsel and as an arbitrator.

In addition to his role as a law practitioner, Prof. Weitbrecht teaches competition law at the University of Treves, where he has been named Honorarprofessor. His extensive publication experience includes two books and covers various subjects on European and German competition law, in particular, regular reports on developments under Articles 101 and 102 TFEU, as well as in the field of merger control.

Prof. Weitbrecht has been recommended by numerous publications and legal directories, such as Chambers Europe 2011 and Chambers Global 2012, Who's Who Legal 2012 and PLC Which Lawyer, as an expert in European and German competition law. He has consistently been named by JUVE as a leading competition lawyer in Germany.
