Alice Zhou is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Litigation & Trial department.

Alice has a broad practice focused on complex commercial litigation and international arbitration. She advises a wide range of clients, from major corporations and financial institutions to high-net-worth individuals. 

Alice provides both detailed technical and strategic advice tailored to the needs and objectives of her diverse client base on all aspects of litigation and arbitration. She also has experience securing advantageous settlements for her clients.

Alice serves on the firm’s Associates Committee. She is also a member of the City of London Law Society Arbitration Shadow Committee. 

Before joining the firm, Alice worked as tipstaff and researcher to the President of the New South Wales Court of Appeal, the then Hon Justice Beazley AO and the then Hon Justice Bell. She also completed a Bachelor of Civil Law (LLM equivalent) at the University of Oxford, winning the Vinerian Scholarship Proxime Accessit, the Clifford Chance Prize in Principles of Civil Procedure, and the Ralph Chiles Prize in Comparative Human Rights.

Complex Commercial Litigation

  • Barclays Plc in a group claim by more than 100 claimants under Sections 90 and 90A of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000
  • Aerium Finance Ltd and Mr Ely Michel Ruimy, two of over 35 defendants in a large-scale fraud claim, which will be one of the largest disputes ever heard in the Commercial Court 
  • Meta, Inc. in various litigation and regulatory inquiries, including managing and coordinating its litigation and regulatory response
  • Awaze Ltd in its claim under a share purchase agreement for a contractual indemnity, arising out of the approximately US$1.3 billion acquisition of the Awaze Group from Wyndham Destination Network, LLC

International Arbitration

  • Mason Capital LP and Mason Management LLC in challenge proceedings in the SICC in relation to their successful investment treaty claim against the Republic of Korea
  • Two state-owned gas and petroleum companies in ICC arbitrations and ancillary court proceedings in relation to an offshore oil concession in South America
  • A Russian commercial bank in an LCIA arbitration in relation to a subordinated loan agreement
