Jansen VanderMeulen is an associate in Latham & Watkins’ Litigation & Trial Department and a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation Practice.

Mr. VanderMeulen focuses on business litigation at both the trial and appellate levels in both federal and state courts. Mr. VanderMeulen’s practice covers a broad range of matters, including commercial contracts, patent and copyright claims, securities litigation, and trade disputes. 

He also maintains an active pro bono practice in which he assists Spanish-speaking clients in immigration and housing proceedings. 

Before joining Latham, Mr. VanderMeulen clerked for Judge Richard C. Tallman of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Mr. VanderMeulen received his JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was senior articles editor for the Virginia Law and Business Review, editor-in-chief of the Virginia Law Weekly, and a Legal Writing Fellow. During law school, Mr. VanderMeulen served as a summer law clerk for the US Attorney for the Western District of Washington. Through the law school’s Prosecution Clinic, Mr. VanderMeulen prosecuted misdemeanors and felonies in Virginia state court.
