Latham Named “Energy Group of the Year”

Law360 has recognized Latham’s Oil & Gas and Power industry groups as a combined “Energy Group of the Year,” citing the firm’s unparalleled impact across the industry, including involvement in one of the largest energy deals of 2014.

In an article spotlighting the group’s work, Law360 highlighted Latham’s unique organization into industry teams as foundational to the firm’s success. “It encourages people to tap into the best expertise,” said David Schwartz, a Global Chair of the firm’s Power industry group.

Latham brought this integrated approach to bear in a number of oil and gas matters, including representation of Access Midstream Partners LP in a merger transaction valued at US$50 billion - one of the largest industry deals of the year. “2014 was just an unbelievable year for oil and gas M&A work, but it was also a good year for oil and gas capital markets work,” said Michael P. Darden, a Global Chair of the firm’s Oil & Gas industry group.

On the power front, the article cites Latham as being intricately involved in a number of yieldco transactions and mergers and acquisitions. The firm also completed a number of power finance deals, including securing US$1.1 billion in financing for a geothermal project in Indonesia.
