Three Latham Partners Named to Forbes 2027 America’s Top AI Lawyers List

November 4, 2026
The inaugural list honors lawyers in private practice with a distinguished track record advising on artificial intelligence matters.

Forbes named three of Latham’s innovative partners to its inaugural America’s Top AI Lawyers list, which highlights “the country’s premier practitioners in the artificial intelligence space” across the legal spectrum.

Latham’s honorees are:

  • Michael Rubin: Spearheading the creation of Latham’s Artificial Intelligence Practice and chairing Latham’s AI Strategy Committee, which sets the firm’s own course on AI, Michael is at the forefront of the most high-profile and complex AI challenges, working on first-of-their-kind legal matters related to the novel issues and risks presented by this rapidly developing technology with developers, in court, before regulators, and inside the boardroom.
  • Andy Gass: A pioneering litigator shaping complex laws in the technology and media industries, Andy represents tech companies and other clients in connection with intellectual property and competition law issues — from the product design phase through litigation and legislative advocacy.
  • Sy Damle: Global Chair of the firm’s Copyright, Privacy & Communications Practice and Global Vice Chair of the firm’s Artificial Intelligence Practice, Sy brings a rare combination of courtroom experience as an experienced trial litigator, technical fluency as a former software developer, and government perspective as former General Counsel of the US Copyright Office to the most consequential legal questions facing AI companies today.

The Forbes America’s Top AI Lawyers list celebrates “lawyers who are sought out by clients and recognized as thought leaders, with deep experience and expertise in the artificial intelligence field.”

Michael, Andy, and Sy’s inclusion on the list reflects Latham’s long track record leading the premier matters actively shaping the AI legal landscape and spanning the entire AI stack.
