Latham Advises Apollo on European Credit Company Launch
Latham & Watkins has advised Apollo as lead counsel in respect of European Credit Company (ECC), a scaled platform focused exclusively on European performing credit, including corporate and asset-backed lending. ECC, with more than €10 billion of lending capacity, will finance both large and mid-market opportunities, working with companies, sponsors, and real asset owners to help capitalize their unique business needs and support growth in local economies. In addition to its proprietary origination, ECC will source assets through strategic partnerships with European financial institutions and will have access to Apollo’s European credit platform.
ECC is a premier origination and financing platform in Europe, backed by Apollo Global Management and a group of blue-chip global investors and financial institutions. ECC has long-term capital investments led by Apollo funds and affiliates, as well as Abu Dhabi Investment Council, Athora, Norinchukin Bank, Standard Chartered, and Aranda Principal Strategies.
As lead counsel for the ECC project, Latham acted across the entire ECC structure, working closely with Apollo on its development. The Latham team was led by London regulatory partners Nicola Higgs and Jonathan Ritson-Candler, with support on regulatory, structured finance, tax, funds, and benefits and compensation matters from across Latham’s global platform including London, Frankfurt, and New York offices.
