January 30, 2026
Members of the firm’s Entertainment, Sports & Media and M&A Practices represent the independent European studio in the transaction.

Mediawan, the leading independent European studio led by Pierre‑Antoine Capton, co‑founded by Capton, Xavier Niel, and Matthieu Pigasse, and backed by its strategic partner KKR, has announced the signing of an agreement to acquire The North Road Company (North Road), the preeminent independent US‑based studio founded by Peter Chernin. The combination creates one of the world’s largest independent studios, with major creative hubs across five continents and capabilities spanning all genres, formats, and audiences. Together, Mediawan and North Road will have a stronger ability to accelerate the development of powerful IP, foster fresh creative synergies through format adaptations and co‑production opportunities, and deliver ever greater value to viewers, talent, and partners worldwide.

Latham & Watkins LLP advised Mediawan in the transaction with an Entertainment, Sports & Media and M&A team led by Los Angeles partners Rick Offsay and Andrew Clark, and New York counsel Julian Azran, with associates Cristina Lombardi, Emma Giusto, and Djenab Conde. Advice was also provided on tax matters by Bay Area partner Katharine Moir and Washington, D.C. partner Abigail Friedman, with associate James Aldred; and on benefits matters by New York partner Erin Murphy, with associate Peter Dalmasy and assistance from Jonathan Friedman.
