At its 25th anniversary gala, International Senior Lawyers Project (ISLP) honored partner Clement Fondufe with the Global Impact Volunteer Award. Clement was recognized for his longstanding commitment to ISLP as well as his leadership of ISLP projects, particularly in Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Kenya, and elsewhere in Africa.

“It’s sometimes said that ISLP is a force multiplier, and I love that description,” said Clement, upon accepting the award. “The work being done by ISLP strengthens the rule of law around the globe and advances global development. Few missions are more noble or laudatory. I am honored and grateful for this award.”

Clement’s work for ISLP has primarily focused on Africa, where he has helped support locally led law reform efforts; delivered practical training to industry stakeholders on natural resources transactions; and produced legal research, comparative review, and publications designed to guide African government decision makers in efforts to enhance transparency and good governance in the mining sector.

“Clement’s trusted counsel has been instrumental in supporting ISLP government partners as they navigate complex and high-stakes negotiations,” noted ISLP. As a result of his efforts, governments throughout Africa have been able to put forward and fulfill development goals, encourage investment, and foster economic progress. His work has also “served as a catalyst for building capacity among lawyers and policy makers around the world.”
