Latham Named Finalist for Multiple Awards by National Law Journal
Latham & Watkins has been recognized for legal excellence across practice areas, receiving honors in nine categories from the National Law Journal (NLJ) Legal Awards. The awards recognize outstanding achievements, innovation, and dedication within the Washington, D.C. legal community and nationally.
Three partners are finalists in their respective categories, including:
- Appellate Attorney of the Year — Greg Garre, for successfully arguing his 50th case before the US Supreme Court in St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School v. Drummond, in which the Supreme Court barred the creation of the nation’s first religious charter school.
- D.C. Managing Partner of the Year — Mandy Reeves, for her leadership of one of Latham’s largest offices, including spearheading the launch of the firm’s New Trump Administration: First 100 Days blog (now Beyond the First 100 Days blog), expanding the reach of the firm’s We’ve Got Washington Covered initiative, focusing additional efforts on mentoring new and lateral partners, and opening the Latham D.C. office’s onsite health center, the LiveWell Center.
- Winning Litigators: Defense — Mike Morin, for securing two jury trial victories in the last eighteen months for Sarepta Therapeutics and Abbott Laboratories in major patent disputes over their signature products.
Latham is also a finalist across litigation practice categories, including:
- D.C. Litigation Department of the Year — General Litigation, for Latham’s unmatched record of success in complex matters across specialties, industries, and jurisdictions that were led by Washington, D.C.-based litigators — including multiple high-profile trial victories and wins before
- D.C. Litigation Department of the Year — Antitrust, for securing a complete defense jury verdict for the U.S. Soccer Federation in a high-profile dispute and for setting precedent for Cendyn in a hot new area of law at the intersection of antitrust and AI, among other victories. Latham also earned recognition as a D.C. Antitrust Litigation Department of the Year finalist in 2024, which marked the first time NLJ ran the category.
- D.C. Litigation Department of the Year — Intellectual Property, for significant victories including the complete jury trial win for Sarepta Therapeutics and a trial win for Netgear at the International Trade Commission. Latham has now been recognized in the D.C. IP Litigation Department of the Year award category nine of the last ten times the category has been included.
- D.C. Litigation Department of the Year — White Collar, for consistently handling high-profile investigations, trials, and enforcement matters, including successfully resolving matters for longtime clients Tenet Healthcare and Walmart. This is the third year in a row that Latham has been recognized in the D.C. White Collar Litigation Department of the Year category.
- Appellate Hot List, for handling exemplary appellate matters, including four partners arguing four different cases before the US Supreme Court during the October 2024 Term. Latham has been featured on the Appellate Hot List nearly every year since its inception.
- Crisis Management and Government Oversight, for advising companies, universities, health systems, and philanthropic foundations in navigating an evolving legal risk landscape, including private litigation as well as recent executive orders and federal agency actions. the US Supreme Court.
