Latham Advises Goldman Sachs Alternatives on £140 Million Project Finance Facility for Elements Green
Latham & Watkins has advised Goldman Sachs Alternatives on providing a £140 million debt facility for Elements Green’s 360MW/720MWh Staythorpe Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) asset. Elements Green’s battery storage project — one of the largest in the UK — has begun early construction, with completion and full commissioning expected in mid-2027. Once operational, it will play a crucial role in enhancing grid stability, supporting the integration of renewable energy, and advancing the UK's net zero ambitions.
The Latham team was led by London Energy & Infrastructure partners Conrad Andersen and Alexander Buckeridge-Hocking, with associates Sam Burleton and Daniel Chen. Advice on project development matters was provided by London counsel Evelyne Girio; on tax matters by London partner Karl Mah, with associate Lina Le Roux; and on real estate matters by associate Caroline Taylor. Latham associate Charlotte Hawkins advised Bondholders Limited, as security trustee.
