Firm shortlisted for Law Firm of the Year and earned recognitions for litigation, transactional, and regulatory prowess and innovative office and practice leadership.

Latham & Watkins has been named as a finalist in five categories, including Law Firm of the Year, of the 2025 New York Legal Awards presented by the New York Law Journal to recognize “dedication, innovation, and leadership that have profoundly impacted the legal profession across the state.”

  • Law Firm of the Year based on top scoring across the awards categories.
  • Litigation Department of the Year: Intellectual Property, based on successes for clients by the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice such as securing a complete jury trial victory for Sarepta Therapeutics in a patent dispute against Nippon Shinyaku, turning a US$290 million claim into a US$116 million victory, as well as a trial victory for Netgear at the International Trade Commission in a patent dispute with TP-Link, which resulted in a favorable settlement that led to Netgear’s stock price jumping more than 30% in one day.
  • Litigation Department of the Year: Professional Liability, honoring the firm’s Securities and M&A Litigation Practice for case wins such as a complete victory for Oracle’s founder, Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison, and its CEO Safra Catz, in a derivative lawsuit challenging one of the largest acquisitions — US$9.4 billion — to face a stockholder challenge through trial in the Court of Chancery, as well as securing two major victories for The Trade Desk involving high-profile matters of reincorporation and equity grant challenges to a founder-controller, respectively. The firm has been honored with this recognition four of the last five times it has been awarded.
  • Office Managing Partner of the Year — Marc Jaffe, for his stellar leadership since 2021 of the firm’s largest office of 830 lawyers, driving growth and clients successes while also maintaining his market-leading capital markets practice and championing Latham’s community involvement through pro bono work and other local initiatives.
  • Innovation Award — Stephen Wink and Yvette Valdez for their leadership in developing and launching the firm’s US Crypto Policy Tracker, which helps innovators, investors, and market participants stay updated on legislative and regulatory developments in the rapidly evolving blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital asset landscape, providing a single source to track actions emerging from federal and state regulators, Congress, and the Executive Branch. Wink is Co-Chair of Latham’s Fintech Industry Group, and Valdez serves as Co-Chair of Latham’s Digital Assets & Web3 Practice.
