Arrival of Alfonso Lamadrid underscores strength of firm’s formidable Global Antitrust & Competition Practice.

Latham & Watkins LLP is pleased to announce that Alfonso Lamadrid will join the Brussels office as a partner in the Antitrust & Competition Practice and a member of the Litigation & Trial Department. Widely recognized as a trailblazer and one of the leading figures in European antitrust and related litigation, the arrival of Lamadrid underscores the firm’s commitment to delivering unmatched legal representation for clients in their most complex, high stakes matters.

Lamadrid is a known thought leader in the field, with a wealth of experience in providing strategic advice to clients, including leading players in the technology and digital sectors. In his practice, he handles complex competition, Digital Markets Act and Digital Services Act investigations, litigation before EU Courts, merger control, and the application of State aid rules across a wide variety of sectors. He has represented companies in some of the most relevant competition law cases in the EU and was recently recognized by Global Competition Review (GCR) as Litigator of the Year, worldwide.

Lamadrid joins from Garrigues. He holds a Law Degree from San Pablo CEU University, an LL.M. from the College of Europe and an LL.M. from Harvard University. He is a member of the Madrid Bar and of the Brussels Bar (E-list). Lamadrid is also a professor at the College of Europe (Bruges), visiting professor at the Brussels School of Competition (Brussels) and has lectured at several national and international universities and institutions.
