Latham & Watkins Leads in Latin America M&A Deals Through Q3 2023
Latham & Watkins was the top legal advisor in M&A Deals in Latin America through the first nine months of 2023, according to Latinvex, a leading Latin America business publication focusing on the region’s legal, energy, and technology sectors.
Over that period the firm advised on 22 M&A deals in Latin America worth a combined US$10.1 billion, the highest deal count of any firm, including advising:
- GIP in its acquisition of a 50% interest in Trabajos Maritimos in Peru and joint venture with Grupo Romero in the port infrastructure sector
- Patria Investments in its acquisition of a controlling interest and joint venture with Bancolombia adding US$1 billion in assets under management in Colombia
- Evertec in its tender offer and acquisition of Sinqia (Brazil)
- Telefónica Hispanoamérica in its sale of a controlling stake and joint venture arrangements with respect to its fibre optic to the home business in Peru to KKR
- Open Co in its acquisition of BizCapital, one of the largest private fintech M&A deals in Brazil this year
- L’Oreal in its US$2.5 billion acquisition of Aesop from Natura&Co
- Norsk Hydro on its sale of a 30% equity stake in Alunorte and a 45% equity stake in Mineracão Rio do Norte to Glencore
- The placement agents on ACG Acquisition Company Limited’s US$1 billion de-SPAC acquisition of two mining operations in Brazil
