Two Latham Partners Recognized in Fifty Most Influential Lawyers List

London finance partner Yen Sum and corporate partner David Walker have been named to Financial News’ third annual Fifty Most Influential Lawyers list. The list recognizes 50 leading legal minds in Europe working across corporate deals including M&A, restructuring and equity issuances, as well as those advising on issues such as fund structuring and regulation.

Sum serves as Global Chair of Private Capital and has played a key role in the development of the firm’s multidisciplinary practice. A recognized leader in her field, Sum recently advised on the €570 million recapitalization of bedding and mattress company Hilding Anders and acted for the senior creditors on the €300 million rescue financing of aviation services business Swissport, as well as the subsequent €2.9 billion debt and equity restructuring of the firm.

Walker, a former Global Vice Chair of Latham’s Corporate Department and Global Co-Chair of its Private Equity Practice, has been instrumental in the growth and success of the firm’s private equity practice in Europe. He recently advised Equistone Partners Europe on the sale of portfolio company Acuity Knowledge Partners to Permira and Energy Capital Partners on its offer for integrated waste management business Biffa.
