May 24, 2023
Proximo
Firm honored by Proximo as Firm of the Year and for advising on three deals of the year.

Latham & Watkins was named the North America Law Firm of the Year 2022 by Proximo at its Deals of the Year Award Ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee. The team was honored for its legal prowess in the market and for advising on some of the year’s highest profile transactions.

Latham also advised on three transactions that were named North American Deals of the Year. These recognitions showcase Latham’s status as a go-to firm within the project finance, infrastructure, and energy communities and highlight the market-leading experience Latham has across sectors from oil and gas to power and renewables.

The Deals of the Year the firm advised on include:

North America Acquisition Deal of the Year 2022 | Latham advised ArcLight Capital (through its subsidiaries Parkway Generation, LLC and Generation Bridge II, LLC) on its acquisition and financing of a 6,750 MW fossil generating portfolio of 13 plants from Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG, a diversified energy company and New Jersey’s largest utility owner) for a total of US$1.92 billion.

North America Renewables Deal of the Year 2022 | Latham advised the lender in a total US$1.7 billion project financing in connection with a warehouse credit facility for AES Clean Energy, a global renewable energy company, that will support the construction of several long-term renewables projects with a 3 GW capacity across nine US states. This is the largest construction warehouse facility for US renewable projects and builds on the initial US$700 million warehouse credit facility established in January 2022, which Latham also advised on.

North America Oil & Gas Deal of the Year 2022 | Latham advised Venture Global LNG, a long-term and low-cost producer of North America liquefied natural gas, on the successful closing of the US$13.2 billion project financing for the initial phase of the Plaquemines LNG facility and the associated Gator Express pipeline. The proceeds of the debt and equity financing fully fund the balance of construction and commissioning of the initial phase of the Plaquemines LNG facility. This transaction represents one of the largest project financing in the world closed in 2022. It was also named LNG Oil & Gas Deal of the Year 2022 by IJGlobal.
