Los Angeles Partner Named Among Local Women of Influence

May 4, 2022
Michelle Carpenter honored by the LA Business Journal for her leadership, law practice, and community achievements.

Los Angeles tax partner Michelle Carpenter has been named by the Los Angeles Business Journal among its Women of Influence: Attorneys, which recognizes “exceptional legal skill and achievement across the full spectrum of responsibility, exemplary leadership as evidenced by the highest professional and ethical standards, and for contributions to the Los Angeles community at large.”

Her published profile highlighted that Carpenter was elected in April 2021 to Latham’s Executive Committee, the nine partner group that oversees the global management of the firm. “This achievement recognized Carpenter’s consistently outstanding performance — in leadership and mentorship roles, her client work, and community and pro bono service — which has earned her universal respect among Latham’s partnership,” the LABJ wrote.

Carpenter was also called out for her client work as a member of the firm’s Executive Compensation, Employment & Benefits Practice, advising clients on a broad range of compensation arrangements and benefit plans across a variety of industries. In particular, she has “extensive experience working with public and private companies… (and) frequently advises on executive compensation and employee benefits matters for high-profile clients in their most complex transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, financings, IPOs, and spin-offs.” In the community, Carpenter serves as an active board member of Bet Tezdek, a nonprofit organization that provides free, comprehensive legal services for low income residents in Los Angeles. In doing so, she helps continue a tradition spanning more than two decades in which Latham has provided pro bono counsel to Bet Tzedek’s clients, including the elderly, Holocaust survivors, and immigrants.
