Latham Recognized for Advising on Two Energy and Infrastructure Deals of the Year

Firm honored at Proximo’s Americas Awards for “innovative and ground-breaking transactions.”

Latham & Watkins’ earned recognition at Proximo’s Deals of the Year Awards 2021, North American Ceremony for advising on two award-winning transactions. The awards showcase Latham’s market-leading experience within the project finance, infrastructure, and energy finance communities. They also highlight the breadth of experience Latham has across a full spectrum of the energy and infrastructure market from oil and gas to power and renewables.

Latham was recognized in the North America Offshore Wind & North America Overall Deal of the Year 2021 category for the Vineyard Wind project where we represented a group of nine international and US-based banks who provided senior credit facilities of up to US$2.3 billion to finance the first major offshore windfarm to achieve financial close in the United States. The financing represents one of the largest investments in a single renewable energy project in the United States and the inception of a new domestic industry that will eliminate emissions from the power sector.

The firm was also recognized in the North America Power Deal of the Year 2021 category for the CPV Maryland project were we served as advisors to CPV in a project refinancing in connection with a 745 megawatt natural gas-fired electric generation facility located in Charles County, Maryland. This project made the most of unpromising timing to re-open the US power term B market. Additionally, this is the second year in a row that Latham has advised CPV on an award winning transaction. Last year the CPV Three Rivers Energy Center was named the 2020 North America Power Deal of the Year.

In addition to winning two Deals of the Year Awards, the firm was shortlisted for the North America Law Firm of the Year.
